This category was created in order to make life a little easier for those who do not prefer the very sweet flavours – but which instead prefer the acidic flavours. We have a lot of different sour candies with different colour and taste, so search through the page and explorer your next favorite flavour. THE TINGLING SENSATION ON THE TONGUE

 

Sourness is one of the five ground tastes which we can identify through the taste receptors on our tongues. The sweet and sour counterbalance each other, which is why many of our hard-boiled sweets contain something acidic in different quantities to balance out the otherwise sweet sugar.

Since all of our hard boiled sweets are made with 100 % coarse sugar, they would not naturally be able to be anywhere near as sour as the synthetic variants on the market. However, this does not mean that we cannot produce sour hard boiled sweets.

We use tartaric acid in our hard-boiled sweets to counterbalance the very sweet sugar. The vast majority of hard-boiled sweet manufacturers use lemon acid in their candies since that is by far the cheapest alternative.

Still we are of the opinion that you can taste lemon acid so clearly through the natural flavours we otherwise use that even the sweetest strawberry sweets added the tiniest dose of lemon acid will have an undertone of lemon – that is why we choose to use tartaric acid; to strengthen the flavour and preserve our fine and tasty quality.

The acid feels like a prickly and tingling sensation on the mouth and it is often most prominent on the sides of the tongue. It starts the production of saliva and therefore has a freshening ability.

It is the ability to start the production of saliva hat is the much-wanted ability for many and that is what makes some people prefer the acidic over the sweet hard-boiled sweets. Many people very much enjoy the tingling sensation on the tongue and detects the physical feeling as a flavour enhancer that improves the experience of taste.

In addition, there are a lot of medical products out there today that – to the considerable inconvenience for the user – as a side effect dries out your mouth. Others suffer from diseases where a dry mouth can cause great discomfort.

You can then choose to be medically treated for your dry mouth, but to avoid a larger intake of chemistry in the body, many prefer to such on an acidic hard-boiled sweet and thus increase the production of saliva.
